Make a great Zentangle® work!

"My art goal is to create a Zentangle® drawing that I can be really proud of. I've been experimenting with it for a while now, and it's time to set an actual goal so that I will make time to study it further and come up with a design worthy of framing (even if it's just on the wall of my basement--I'm not shooting for art galleries, yet). Having a goal that's in writing is the catalyst that will help make this a reality.

I've experimented with some Zentangle® doodles, but my goal is to start with a drawing of an actual form (probably a rabbit), and complete the patterns within. Wish me luck!"

Spend more time drawing

"Draw, draw, draaaaaaaw! I love sketching, gesture drawing, and even just making quick pencil doodles on scraps of paper or napkins, but I don't spend enough time seeing a drawing through to the end.

So this year, my goal is to spend more quality time drawing in the studio, sharpening my hand-eye coordination as well as creating more finished pieces. Fingers crossed! Here I come, 2014!"

Book time in the studio

"Running our publishing business is a lot of fun, but also takes a lot of time! If space isn't reserved in my calendar, it doesn't get done. For 2014, my goal is to get back into the studio and paint more, exploring some of the new techniques that can be achieved with acrylics.

I'm going to reserve 2-3 hours a week for creative time, where I can paint, play and just explore what I can do with color, texture and layering. I'm not sure what type of art will come out of this, but just re-engaging with the materials is sure to spark some new ideas and artwork."
