Inspired Lessons
Everyone can learn. When you are passionate about acquiring a new skill, it doesn’t matter what supplies you have or how old you are, because it’s fulfilling the desire to learn that’s most important. Drew never lets anyone tell him that they "can’t learn" to crochet, because he knows that it’s all about building their confidence.
Stages of development. Just as there are stages of development in life, you will experience stages of development in your art. Instead of being critical of the different forms his art has taken over the years, Drew appreciates each piece for the joy it gave him at that time, and reflects on how much he has grown since then as an artist.
Absorb knowledge. Though Drew felt that the art teachers he had early on were tearing down his methods of creating art, he later realized that they were helping him to develop his technical skills to enhance his natural abilities. When someone is willing to pass their knowledge on to you, be grateful and absorb all that you can.
A Word From the Author:
"The contributors also offer compelling "Pay it Forward" ideas. These thoughts are written in each artist’s words, and they challenge us to think beyond ourselves, nudging us to widen the circle of creativity and invite others to experience and understand the significance of the creative process and how indeed, art saves." — Jenny Doh
