- Thoughtful approach= Successful paintings Review by Betsy Kimbrough
I found this video to be very helpful to me as a pastel artist. I have resisted making thumbnail sketches in the past two years of painting with pastels. After learning and seeing Colleen's technique of sketching, planning color and thinking through the foundation of a painting before working it has revolutionized my approach. I have come to enjoy sketching and planning and have found it to lead to successful plein aire paintings. I have a stack of unsuccessful plein air work in my closet and now I have more successes than failures. I fully credit Colleen's approach for my new results and I am enjoying painting even more.

- translate to color from value Review by Colleen Howe
Hi Everyone!I realize how hard it is sometimes to see what value a color is. In this video, I teach you how to simplify a scene into values, then how to find the appropriate color to fit into that value. This way, you keep the strong value structure going in your painting. Enjoy! and I hope you learn many things that will help your paintings become stronger and more vibrant. Sincerely, Colleen Howe
