- A Wonderful Compendium of Art, Prizes and Unadulterated Fun Review by Thomas Lee
Over the years I have seen a wide swath of art magazines, many of them widely distributed with haughty references. (Who the heck is Lorillard Wolfe anyway?) Some are still with us and some are not. But this magazine is horse of a different hue. It is of course a quality publication. But it seems also to be able to flawlessly blend huge portions of fun, useful advice and some of the most accomplished colored pencil artists in the world with their wonderful works in this the most amazing compendium of good times and color I have ever seen.
On these pages you will find artists from all walks of the art world. Some of them have adorned the covers of your favorite paperback books or even that fantastic gallery in San Francisco you visited last summer. Mix that with numerous contests and insightful tell-alls about exactly how they perform such miracles with a little colored wax and a piece of paper and you have the newest sensation of the art world, aptly named Colored Pencil Magazine for its devotion to the media of so many millions.
All-in-all Colored Pencil Magazine is an unbelievable collection of fun filled hours that you will want to keep forever - a good use for that cedar chest you have stuffed with old clothes and childhood dolls. I commend the creator and editor Sally Ford for one of the best art periodicals of the century. I certainly look for her to best herself again and again as she has since the first issue.
