Fabulous! Review by Martha

I really, enjoyed learning from Mr. Picard. I really want to go and take one of his workshops. I learned more from watching his 3 dvds on pastels than I did at my local art classes! I highly recommend these and I suggest you don't pass them up!

Overall a good beginners video Review by RF

I just started working with color from generally drawing in graphite and charcoal and found this video helpful. The artist takes you from the underlying charcoal sketch phase to blocking in with foundation colors and then beginning some detail. My only disappointment is that the piece is really not fully completed. The artist basically ends the video stating "this is a two hour portrait." Would have liked to see him fully complete the piece since his work is very well done.

Wonderful tips for creating portraits with pastels! Review by VRoot

I have some experience with pastels, but after years of being out of practice - my most recent attempt at creating a pastel portrait had me spouting less than friendly words towards the medium. Seeing Picard's beautiful work though, I couldn't help but be inspired!

Alain Picard is a wonderful artist as well as instructor. His pacing was appropriate and I gained very useful tips to composing a drawing and keeping proportions in check. I also like how the video is sectioned out- His method to creating is very organized, but his artwork is still free and lively.

Overall this was a wonderful guide to getting started with pastels and I'm definitely happy with my purchase.
