SKU# U5026

In this video, artist, author and experienced workshop leader Michelle Belto teaches viewers advanced encaustic techniques that include a variety of both classic and unique media and supplies.

In her engaging manner, Michelle reviews the general tools and materials used in encaustic and also discusses safety precautions. Viewers then move into an exploration of techniques used to add dimensionality to their work, including collage, and poring and embedding. Michelle then moves into adding imagery—viewers will learn how to do three different types of transfers. Finally, an exploration toning the surface and adding finishing touches wraps up the workshop-style content of this program. DVD includes an annotated gallery of works by the artist and her contemporaries, all chosen to demonstrate the possibilities of the specific techniques taught.

Would be helpful for less experienced encaustic artists. Review by Sandy

Not as professionally done as Linda Kemp's downloads. I am quite experienced with Encaustic painting so a lot of the content related to techniques, I already knew. I did pick up a few pointers, however.
I was surprised that Michelle held her support in one hand while using the heat gun with the other hand. I felt that was a safety issue and she had spent quite a bit of time talking about safety!

lots of possibilities Review by Mary

I feel confident now to get started. A potter as well as my being a painter she mentioned a pourous surface of ceramic as a possibility and Damar added to the beeswax to cure the encaustic and much more helpful information. I assume once the curing takes place there will be no further bloom. I am glad I bought the download, now need to get the supplies
