Translate nature's impressions into personal expressions, and learn about pastel techniques while doing so!

If you want to grow your pastel skills, or build up your landscape painting repertoire, Landscape Painting in Pastel provides you with drawing techniques and painting secrets so that you can capture the landscapes around you. With individual chapters covering Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter, learn about the unique colors that set the seasons apart. From changing light to reflecting water, your paintings will demonstrate the evolving cycle of the year. Artist Elizabeth Mowry provides instruction on how to get started with pastel and build a relationship between pastel technique and its place within the finished work. She puts emphasis on working your own emotional response into nature’s changes, and this helps you find your signature style.

This Book Features:

  • 10+ Demonstrations that cover the seasonal changes of landscapes
  • In-depth instruction on how to maximize the pastel and its uses
  • Exploration in wetting-in techniques, layering the background, and selecting your palette

At the end of the book, discover gives advice on how to critique your painting, and thus refine and fix the areas you are not satisfied with. This allows you to reflect on what is most important to you in a painting, and how to emphasize your style. The demonstrations that Elizabeth creates let you base decisions off color, shadow, and subjects. Trees, water, flowers, and snow scenes become your playground and allow you to master the different strokes of pastels.
