What Other Artist's Are Saying:

"Maggie Price's new book is fabulous. I just rec'd it and I couldn't put it down. It has tutorials, step by step and absolutely wonderful visual aids. Right away I learned how to do the wash which I had never done. Then again I'm very new to pastels. This book is a must have and I'm so glad I purchased it." --Kittie

A Word from The Author:

"Sunlight and shadow are the inseperable elements of describing form. A shape portrayed as totally in sunlight can appear flat and one-dimensional; a shape totally in shadow may nearly vanish. Think back to the basic exercise of drawing a cylinder and its components: the the side facing the light source, the dark shadowed side opposite the light source, and the halftone area between where light and dark merge to create the dimension and shape of the cylinder.

These basic elements of light, dark and halftone are the first building blocks of describing form, but they are just the beginning. Exploring the nuances of sunlight and shadow can take as much time as the artist is willing to give." --Maggie Price

Great Review by Randy
Rating

I'm an oil painter who just discovered what great things can be done with Pastels. This video offered up a great how-to and answered many of my initial questions.

Okay, but a retread Review by David Bratzel

Maggie Price's book has a lot of good stuff in it, if you have not read her articles or seen one of her workshops. If you have, the material in this book is mostly a repeat of that which has appeared elsewhere.
