Painting Wildlife Step by Step

By Rod Lawrence

Format: Paperback

SKU# Z7060

Discover the Secret to Wildlife Paintings

The long, coarse hair of the American elk…the distinctive makings of the peregrine falcon…the colorful glint of trout…the burning glow in the eyes of the wolf…these are only a hint of the rich variety of textures that exist in wildlife.

By capturing these tactile details in your paintings, you give your wildlife subjects that certain "spark" they need to come to life. Leave them out, and your subjects end up looking lifeless and dull.

The step-by-step demonstrations in this guide show you how to make fur look thick, give feathers sheen, create the roughness of antlers and how to achieve many other wildlife effects. Acrylic, Watercolor, Oil.

This is a re-release of the book Painting Wildlife Textures Step-by-Step, originally published in 1997.

Better Than Ever! Review by Holly Davis

I worked with Rod Lawrence (as an editor) on this re-issue of his classic book, Painting Wildlife Step by Step. What a great experience! This book has all the wonderful painting instruction of the original with key updates to make the book especially helpful to today's painters.

Painting Wildlife Review by Linda Folks

I really enjoyed this book & highly recommend it to anyone interested in painting wildlife. Details abound within these pages, including how to paint feet, hooves, muzzles, feathers, fur, beaks & just about anything you can think concerning animals. More info on the details than any other wildlife book I own. This man knows his stuff. I really wish he'd do a book on how to paint landscapes.
