- A very good lesson for those wanting to begin to explore abstract painting Review by Tim
Brian Ryder takes the viewer from a coastal scene using different media to move towards increasing abstraction. He does this clearly and in detail. I found this dvd proved helpful with suggestions for how to move from landscape realism to a more abstracted painting approach, which I have found to be deceptively simple. The dvd ends with a gallery of Ryder's paintings which he speaks about, and this section reinforces what is possible in taking a real scene and turning it into an abstract work or at least a work which is heavily abstracted.
